Graded paper folders go home each Wednesday unless it is more sensible to send it a day earlier or later. For example, Progress Reports usually go home on Thursdays so when we have them to go home, I will hold folders until Thursday that week.
Be sure to keep anything on the "KEEP" side and sign and return anything on the "RETURN" side.

Unit 8, Lesson 1 (pages 325-335). We have discussed the information in this lesson in great detail and have completed the pages in the lesson. The quiz will be multiple choice as well as fill-in-the-blank and/or short answer.
Students have a study guide in the science section of their binders. The study guide includes vocabulary as well as concepts for the lesson. If your child understands the vocabulary as well as the concepts listed, he/sh should do well. Please quiz your child on the concepts/vocabulary to prepare.

The math test Friday covers concepts found in lessons 1-5.
Students have a practice test in the math section of their binders that they should have completed in class today. If your child did not complete it, he/she should do so before returning to school tomorrow.
Please look over the practice test to see the concepts that your child may need additional help with. We will go over the test tomorrow and I will give extra help/instruction on the concepts they may be struggling with. Please have them mark the problem(s) that need to be addressed in class tomorrow.
The curriculum is designed to have a test every 5 lessons. The tests cover 5 lessons behind where we are in the book. For example, we finished Lesson 10 yesterday, and will take the test on lessons 1-5 Friday. When we complete Lesson 15, we will have the next test on Lessons 1-10. As we get farther in the book, students will begin bringing home a list of lessons covered on each test.

Students have 15 vocabulary cards with definitions for words found in The Lost and Found.
Quiz is Friday, 9/1. The quiz will include a word bank and definitions for matching. There will also be a section with selected words for alphabetizing as well as sentences in which the correct word will be filled in.

Students will take the AR test for The Giving Tree during computer class tomorrow. We have read and discussed this book many times in class so students should be ready.
We will begin reading The Lost and Found tomorrow. I normally spend a great deal of time discussing questions related to the story as well as different elements of literature and reading strategies during the reading of the story. There will be a test Tuesday, 9/5 when we return from the Labor Day holiday. Reading tests normally include selected vocabulary words as well as some multiple choice and short answer questions. Most of the questions are for understanding of the text but some may also be for understanding different literary elements as well as reading strategies. Always note the "Reading Strategy" found on the title page of each story to see what the focus is.
Please be sure to total Reading Logs after the last day of each month. Remember, Reading Log minutes are used to calculate a daily reading grade each quarter.
